How to get Married in Anguilla

  • You have the option of choosing to get married in a Church or on a Beach or any other suitable place you desire
  • The wedding ceremony must take place between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  • A Minister of Religion who is a Marriage Officer will be required to officiate at the ceremony
  • Your marriage ceremony can also be done at the Court House by an Officer of the court

Here is what you need

  • Marriage license processed and issued by the Registrar at the Court House. This will require EC$100.00 (about US$40.00) worth of stamps obtained at local post office - as stamp duty.
  • Fee of US$284. This is waived if one partner resides on the island for 15 days before the wedding. The license takes about 48 hours tos process. So you need to be on Anguilla a minimum of two workdays before the wedding to ensure sufficient time.
  • Birth certificates or passports
  • Final divorce papers (decree absolute) if divorced. These must be the original documents.

If your ceremony will be done in the Roman Catholic Church by a Roman Catholic Priest, then you will need in addition the following:

  • Confirmation papers
  • Baptismal certificates
  • Freedom to marry (papers from church).
  • Pre Cana course in marriage should have been taken.
  • Catholic church requires 3-6 months advance notice.
